Get 4x more value from advertising your new cars on Auto Trader

Record-high number of eyes on your new car adverts

In January 2022, we saw the number of views per new car advert on our platform soar +145% year-on-year. This is the largest volume of new car views we’ve seen in the last 2 years – indicating the huge consumer appetite for a shiny new car ahead of the March plate change.

Not only are we seeing a surge in views, the number of leads per new car have also skyrocketed 399% year-on-year – representing 4x more value from advertising a new car on Auto Trader.

So, despite ongoing supply shortages, our data shows that demand is continuing to remain strong and that consumers are willing to look even harder to find their next new car.

New car browsers are turning into used car buyers

With this substantial number of in-market buyers becoming increasingly frustrated by new car supply shortages, we’re seeing an uplift in demand for nearly new and used cars. In fact, our data shows that 8% of new car browsers go on to buy a used car from the same dealer after viewing one of their new car adverts on Auto Trader.

This represents the huge weight that new car buyers are carrying when it comes used car sales. So, by advertising new cars, not only are retailers benefiting from more eyes on vehicles, they’re also extracting further value with more eyes on their dealership, resulting in an increase in used car sales.
