Changes to Basic Vehicle Checks within Auto Trader Connect

From 31st August 2023, we are introducing a change to our services that means insuranceWriteoffCategory data will no longer be available as part of basic vehicle checks. Please ensure that the necessary changes are made before 31st August 2023 to prevent any disruptions to Basic Vehicle Checks.

What do I need to do?

To accommodate this change, please switch to using the updated history parameter in the developer documentation before 31st August to continue retrieving the existing information, excluding the insuranceWriteoffCategory.

The updated history parameter is now available and will return the response shown in the image below. insuranceWriteoffCategory data will still be available for in-stock vehicles via the /stock endpoint.

If you would like to continue to provide your Auto Trader retailers with the option to look up insuranceWriteoffCategory data for out-of-stock vehicles in your platform, these retailers will need to subscribe to the Auto Trader - Vehicle Check product, which will then make this datapoint available to you as a Partner when adding the Full Vehicle Check parameter.

Why are we making these changes?

The cost to provide the insuranceWriteoffCategory data has increased significantly over the last 12 months. As a result, we can no longer offer this datapoint without a subscription to the Vehicle Check product.

To prevent any disruption to Basic Vehicle checks please ensure that you have completed the switch to the new history parameter before the 31st of August 2023.

We expect the impact of this change to be minimal as utilisation of this data is quite low. But if you would like to understand more around integrating with the Auto Trader Connect – Vehicle Check module or need any further clarification then please reach out to the Auto Trader Partnership Team at autotraderpartnerteam@autotrader.co.uk
